  • Kindergarten Round-Up 
  • If you child will be 5 years old by August 1, 2022, please plan to attend Kindergarten Round-Up at your "home" school.

  • Kindergarten round-up will be by appointment only to allow for a safe and healthful experience for each family.  Please plan to attend at your home school with your child.
  • Round-up Dates:
  • Tuesday, April 26 East Elementary
  • Wednesday, April 27 Maple Ridge Elementary
  • Thursday, April 28 Pendleton Elementary
  • After Round-Up dates, after completing the FassPass, you will be contacted by the school.

  • To jump-start the registration process, start with Step 1 New Student Registration. Notification of Round-up Appointments will be shared thru email at the end of March.

Registration steps:

Step 1:  Click the New Student Fastpass link to begin the registration online.

Step 2: Attend Kindergarten Round-Up with your child, and bring the following:

  • Your child (a kindergarten teacher will be conducting a basic skills screener with each child)

  • Your child’s official birth certificate - must be 5 years old by August 1, 2022.

  • 2 Proofs of Residency in the school district
  • A utility bill such as electricity, gas, water, or phone
  • A purchase agreement, mortgage statement, rental agreement, or third-party affidavite
  • Immunization record, doctor contact information, and student medication information
  • Emergency contact information
  • Court records (custody, guardianship) and/or a copy of any IEP, if applicable
  • Driver’s license or government photo ID for the parent/guardian

Step 3:  You and Your Child Join us at Blast-Off to Kindergarten.

This spring, we have planned a fun virtual Blast-Off for incoming kindergarten students and their families. Join us to meet kindergarten teachers and watch the teachers demonstrate classroom activities to help prepare children for school.

Step 4: Kindergarten Open House

The kindergarten teachers and school are working on plans for a special open house for incoming kindergarten students.


Early Entrance: The state requires students to be five (5) on or before August 1 of the enrollment year. South Madison does have an appeal process for students who turn five (5) between August 2 and September 30. If you are interested in appealing, please review the information on the Kindergarten Early Entrance page.
In-district transfer student:  If you want to enroll a Kindergarten student who lives in district at a school outside of the enrollment boundary of your home address, please contact Mr. Andrew Kruer (765-778-2152), as well as, Step 1 of New Student Registration.

2022-23 Non-Resident Information: South Madison accepts non-resident students based on school and grade level openings.  If you want to enroll a Kindergarten student who lives out-of-district, please review the Non-Resident Student information.
