Non-Resident Students
Application for new enrollments of Non-Resident students for school year 2022-2023 will be accepted March 4 – April 22, 2022, only for schools and grade levels where openings are available and only if the student meets all application criteria. The criteria for acceptance are outlined in the attached documents and in the Application for Admission of Non-Resident Students.
Non-Resident Students previously accepted and currently enrolled do not need to reapply. Enrollment is ongoing, as long as the student remains in good standing.
Students currently enrolled who have moved out of the district and who are in good standing and want to continue attending school in South Madison must apply and be accepted.
April 22, 2022, is the deadline for Non-Resident Student applications for the school year 2022-23 in South Madison Community School Corporation. Applications received after the deadline will be considered only through September 9, 2022, if space is available and if the applicant meets all criteria and can be enrolled prior to fall Indiana Department of Education ADM student count day.
Criteria for enrollment comply with Indiana law, HEA 1381-P.L.281-2013. An applicant who meets criteria must be enrolled and attending school before the Indiana Department of Education ADM count day.
If requests for a school/grade level exceed the number of available openings, a lottery will be conducted May 5, 2022, to determine who is accepted for enrollment. Parents/Guardians will be notified by May 13, 2023, of acceptance and enrollment procedures.
An incomplete application will not be considered. In addition to the completed and signed application and Consent for Release of School Records form, be sure to submit all requested documents (including the Parent Statement and for students grades 7 – 12, the student essay).
Parents of children entering kindergarten should submit the Non-Resident Student application in March 2022 so they will receive the documentation needed for attending Kindergarten Round-Up on April 26 (East Elementary), April 27 (Maple Ridge Elementary), or April 28 (Pendleton Elementary Primary). The child must be five-years-old by August 1, 2022, to enroll in kindergarten in 2022-23.
